Help and handbook
Every part of Mapidu explained step by step, with pictures from the app. Pick a chapter or search for a term.

Getting started
- Welcome to MapiduMapidu pulls your whole teaching day together — timetable, lessons, grades, tasks, and planning in one place.
- First stepsSetup protects your app and introduces Mapidu to your subjects, classes, and periods.
- Today dashboardYour whole day on one timeline — every lesson, event, and open task for today.
In the lesson
- Lesson conductYour in-lesson view places attendance, participation, notes, and the lesson plan side by side.
- Lesson toolsThree tools for the lesson in progress: Callout, Groups, and Work phase.
- AttendanceRecord attendance directly in lesson conduct — or later in a dedicated session with the whole class in view.
- Seating planThe seating plan shows your course the way it sits in the room — and is at the same time the fastest surface for attendance and participation.
- TimetableYour week with colour-coded subjects, breaks, and lesson blocks.
Grades and exams
- Grades & participationWritten grades and oral participation, either per student or per course.
- Grading systems & entry layoutHere you choose which grade scales Mapidu uses for oral and written assessment and how the entry surface looks in grading sessions.
- Grading sessionA grading session is a fast pass through every student in a course — ideal after a test or oral round.
- ExamsAn exam with sub-tasks, points, and a grading key you set yourself.
- Printing & reportsYour data becomes a sheet: grade overview, class list, seating plan, or worksheet.
Classes, courses and dates
- Students, classes & subjectsHere you manage your master data: students, school classes, subjects, and courses.
- Course viewThe course view gathers everything for one subject-class course — overview, lesson log, and links — instead of looking at students one by one.
- Teaching unitsA teaching unit is the concrete lesson on a specific day — with status, notes, attendance, and link to the teaching project.
- Calendar & tasksEvents and tasks beside your teaching — meetings, marking deadlines, and birthdays.
- School calendarSchool holidays, public holidays, closure days, and other non-teaching days — the days on which no lesson takes place.
- TasksYour to-dos for marking, prep, and reminders — separate from the calendar but sharing the same due dates.
Planning
- Teaching projectsA teaching project is your plan for a lesson or series — with goals, phases, tasks, and materials.
- Teaching project libraryYour collection of all teaching projects — sorted by subject, as single lessons or series, for creating, editing, and reusing.
- Annual planThe annual plan is the level above the single teaching project: it records what comes up in a school year and in what order — as a course plan for one course, or as a template for a whole grade level.
- Plan outlineThe outline is the content of a plan: a tree of entries, each with its outline number such as 3.2.
- Modules & competenciesA module is a building block that can stand in several plans — and stays the same module everywhere, not a copy.
- MaterialsYour lesson files — worksheets, slides, images, audio. Any file type will do.
Devices and colleagues
- SynchronisationAligning your Mapidu data across your own devices, say a tablet and a laptop.
- ColleaguesConnect with other teachers — the guided wizard exchanges Comm and Data keys once via QR, without sharing passwords.
- Share dataSend baseline teaching data or a teaching project to a connected colleague — encrypted via the sync mailbox.
- OutboxThe queue for everything on its way to a colleague.
- ProfileYour own details: salutation, first name, last name, gender, profile picture, and the name and address of your school.
Security, access and licence
- Settings — security & keysControl access and keys here — biometrics, teacher identification key, and manual sync — complementing the Privacy chapter.
- Privacy, Security & AccessStudent data deserves more than a promise — it needs protection you can follow. Mapidu does not store it in a remote cloud but encrypted on the device you control. When something is shared, further layers apply: a secured connection, proof of who sent, and a separate key for the content itself. Read the plain-language sections first; the blue-bordered boxes below are for school IT and technical staff.
- AccessibilitySettings for readability, colours, and operation — including by keyboard and screen reader.
